OUR HISTORY
From immemorial time in the plain of tallaroga
The Rubiu Winery was founded by the will of Antioco Efisio Luigi, who began farming and winemaking in 1890.
He will carry on the production by passing on to his children the tradition of life in the cellar, in which the crops marked the seasons of the year.
It was precisely the sons, Albino, Lino and Virgilio who in the 50s, thanks to the shops in the city of Iglesias, made the Cantina Rubiu brand famous.
Currently managed by Lino's children, our winery continues to promote the traditionality of crops, the historicity of the vineyards and strictly organic production.
Monica, Alicante (vineyard of Spanish origin today owned in Sardinia only by the Rubiu Winery), Carignano and Vermentino, are the pillars on which our history is based and currently they are still the predominant factor.
The names of our wines preserve the memory of our family and correspond to the names of our lands, wines such as Banjoi have been handed down in the Rubiu Winery from father to son for over 150 years.
The wines of the Rubiu Winery are sealed with corks made with proprietary corks, to emphasize the identity importance of the product that is born around the city of Iglesias.
Over the last decade, we have perfected various winemaking techniques that have allowed us to enhance the ancient aromas and flavors of our land.
Thanks to their centuries-old history, our wines have allowed Cantina Rubiu to receive 16/20 from the Espresso guide recognized in 2015.
